Hi David, by any chance is that a Corvair ? Looks good in that blue ! Steve
Blue on Blue too Beautiful!!
To a degree, it started to come back a little but I remember most of the new cars that I special ordered, had exactly the options and colors that I wanted. I hated buying cars off the lot that the dealer ordered. I disliked most of their choices since they were based on the most expensive items the company sold. And they picked colors that the masses would buy. No prob since most people wanted their cars right now!
I was willing to wait. Eight weeks for that new 70 Nova 350 in Autumn Gold and 11 weeks for the 72 Ontario Orange Stingray with four speed and air but no power steering. And so it went for some time before they made it harder to special order a new car.
Tony, you didn't mention what year your Corvette was and what color interior. Inquiring minds want to know..🤔

In the early '60s multi color interiors were in. I recall Pontiac had some gorgeous three tone interiors back then. Then around 1963 solid black become the interior color of choice. I prefer the multi color interiors.

What it boils down to is cost. The interior colors were simplified to reduce material costs and of course production costs. Keeping materials on hand for 3 of 4 basic colors was a whole lot cheaper than the dozen or more offered in the 50s & early 60s.

@perrone1 Fabulous display Tony. I love the 70-72 Vettes.
Here is an example of a multi-color interior in a 1959 Pontiac. I photographed this at a car show in Naperville, Illinois in 2021. The sign by the front wheel incorrectly identifies this as a 1960. I have a model of this car produced by Buz and sold under the Madison Models brand.

I had my friends at DM recreate a 65 Corvette for my ailing buddy, Ric Newman. It was identical to his. This one:1972 Steve. Black interior. Identical to this one-of-one DM Corvette:Tony, you didn't mention what year your Corvette was and what color interior. Inquiring minds want to know..🤔

Hi Tony,
Is there a backstory as to how you've got that 1 of 1 DM Corvette ?
He didn't survive cancer. They also did one to match my first Corvette, the one pictured, after Ric died.
