...true, but it's all relative. I vividly remember my Dad complaining that his 1964 Cadillac was cheap compared to his old '58 Caddy. He complained again when he proclaimed his '67 Sedan de Ville to be a "tin can" compared to his '64 SDV. You can imagine what he said when he saw plastic grills in 1980's... 😬 😬 😬
If he could see new Cadillacs - in which the entire body is plastic or composite sans a few pieces - he'd blow his brains out! 😬 😲
Lets not forget about all the rust on those steel bodies.

Good post Lloyd, great responses Chris & John! I remember rebelling at the 'cheapness' of the plastics to my beloved cars. I also recall the selling points, more inexpensive to produce, lighter and more efficient on the car, no rusting, etc., etc.
I suppose there is truth on both sides of the issue but now we get the substitute of carbon fiber and that stuff ain't cheap!!
The only plastic/ fiberglass on my 63 Thunderbird Sports Roadster is the tonneau cover. The only plastic/fiberglass on my 61 Corvette is everything! The only plastic/fiberglass on my 55 Imperial is nothing.

...you have some plastic (I like plastic ). Your heating shroud, lens (F & R, interior ) radio parts, steering wheel, a few insulators, grommets. some medallions, and..... well, that's about it. Maybe 15-20 pounds? Crazy, right! 🙄 🙄
