I must be older. I remember when we had a party line phone, then moved up to a rotary dial one.

Oh yes, I hated that; we had a party line for a few years.

I grew up in Hialeah, Florida. We moved there some time in 1947. We owned Perrone's Tavern located next to the paddock area in the Hialeah Park Race Track. In that bar, we had a public wall phone - it was the two-piece variety. I recall that phone like it was yesterday. It was finally replaced by a more modern unit sometime about 1952 or 1953.

You picked up the phone, broke into the conversation and said something to the effect of, "I need to make an important call, could you quit gabbing and hang the %^&*! up!"  Shut Mouth

I remember party lines. We would listen in and share….”Do you know what Mrs. Butler said last night?”

LOL, I'm really old too!  I remember 78, 33, and 45rpm records played on a Hi-Fi.  And we had to defrost our refrigerator.  And the real treat was having a garage for our cars, but we had to get out of the car, lift up the door, and then drive in to the garage.  I'll also point out that our exercise program consisted of having to get off the couch to turn the channel on our TV and then adjust the picture each time you turned the channel.  Yup, no remote back then!  And don't forget the window "air-conditioner" in a window in one room of the house.

@georgeschire

I remember all of those. For my first car, I rented a garage, which had two doors, each hinged along the side.
