I've only driven 3 Ford's in my life. One was a '60 in 1969, another was a '65 in 1970, and the third one was a '67 in 1972.  ALL OF THEM stalled often and the motors would just turn off at stop signs and they wouldn't restart.  I'm not kidding!  As such, I've taken to heart the old saying, "FORD, Fix Or Repair Daily".  I've never personally owned a Ford, but from these experiences, I've concluded, I never will.

@georgeschire I've only ever owned one, and it was troublesome. A 2002 Ford Five Hundred. A lot of time in the shop. The transmission went out and they wanted $7000 to fix it. More than the car was worth. I donated it to the Goodwill auto auction.😟

I have owned very many Fords and never had a mechanical dud in the bunch.  Chryco...now that's a different story.

I have owned very many Fords and never had a mechanical dud in the bunch.  Chryco...now that's a different story.

I've owned 3 Chrysler brands in my driving life.  The first one was a '61 Plymouth that was a total blast to drive.  It's only problem was that by the time I owned it, the rings were shot and it burned a Hilex bottle of Oil a day.  Yes, you read that right, a Hilex bottle of Oil a day!  When I'd start that baby, the black smoke that came out of the exhaust literally clouded the block I lived on.  One time, a neighbor across the street was waving a white towel out his front door, in surrender.

I later owned a BRAND NEW '73 Plymouth Duster with the (supposed great) Slant-Six engine.  I had one problem after another with that car.  It went through Fuel Filters 3 or 4 times a year.  Then with only 67,000 miles on it, it needed a new engine.  I had it towed to a salvage yard.

A short time later, I owned a '63 Chrysler Newport and a nicer car I couldn't ask for.  Fun to drive, quite, and reliable for over three years.

I had an '88 Ford Taurus which I purchased new in 1987 with a 10 year, 150K extended warrantee. Had it for about 8 years and I put 130,000 miles on it. Replaced auto trans at 60K and at 120K. Only other problem was a heater core. All issues were covered by the extended warrantee. No other complaints.
