Enough to make a grown man who doesn't have a '65 Corvette cry.
....let's see about that. In 1965, $6012.00 is equal to about $62,000 today. 2026 base Corvette pricing starts at about $72,000. 🤔 🤔 🤔
The wheels, engine and radio options are what is driving that sticker so high for '65. I bought a brand new '72 Stingray convertible for just under $7,000 and people thought I was nuts to buy a car for THAT much money.
Here's the car in the sticker - just substitute whitewall tires for the goldlines.

All the C8 stingray owners in the two Corvette clubs that I'm a part of spent at least $100K...no one ordered the base version.....let's see about that. In 1965, $6012.00 is equal to about $62,000 today. 2026 base Corvette pricing starts at about $72,000. 🤔 🤔 🤔
Edit: In todays market a '65 Big Block coupe in excellent shape will go for at least $125,000.

It does sound great looking back, but some serious dough for the time.🤑😊
"...no one ordered the base version."
HA! Does anyone order the base version of anything? The best-selling base version in North America is, I believe, the Ford Maverick; apparently, it's one hell of a truck - even in base form. "100 years ago," I ordered a new Plymouth with about 3 options - almost as "base" as one could get. These are all my "base" stories.
Even my Chevette (from college ) was fairly well loaded up.
@geno Exactly my point.... at that time, $6012 was no bargain. When measured against 2026 pricing, however..... well yeah, "Give me 10 please. Oh, and throw in that luxury split level home in the CA hills for $150K, thanks!" 😉 😉 😉
Yes, no dealer has a base version on the lot. To order a base configuration can take weeks or months because highly optioned cars will be built before a base car."...no one ordered the base version."
