I would like one just like this, I like the split rear window
Just yesterday evening, I drove into a regional restaurant as a old VW drove nearby. A quick glance dated it into the 60's and I saw the grin on the driver's face. A few minutes later I found myself near that driver inside and I complimented him on his VW. He said, "My daddy bought it when I was in high school and he babied it for years. Now it's mine and I'm doing the same."
I wished him my best, shook his hand, and grinned myself. Good feelings! (I wonder what happened to my '63.)
In 1964 a teacher at Lane Tech in Chicago had one of the first three Beetles imported to the US. It was all black with black walls and a split window. VW put it on display at the Chicago Auto Show that year.
That one has semaphores. Pretty rare.
