Memorial Day started just after the American Civil War to honor those who served or gave everything (for us). This photograph was taken (not by me !) I believe on Memorial Day or Independence Day in about 1905 or so in my hometown of Riverside, IL.

Little did people realize we still had World War 1 (the War to End All Wars), World War 2  the Korean War, the Southeast Asia wars, Russian Soviet and Chinese Civil wars, revolutions in South American, the Middle East, etc, etc, etc, and innumerable other conflicts around the earth.

As we go out into the cosmos, someone may have been watching us from elsewhere and judging our actions. I don't know if we passed the test.

...we haven't.  We are still repeating past mistakes and until those who push our young into wars are sent to do battle first, we will continue to repeat the cycle.
