John, that was a great read ! Thanks !
Now THAT'S something different! Wow- so many iterations! 😎 😎
wow, I dunno, these just keep getting better John. I went off looking for the kits after reading this bit: "Robert Reder, from Monogram Models, called to ask if he would sell the car to Monogram so that a 1/24 scale model kit could be offered. In the process, Darryl was asked to restyle the Predicta, and paint it a bright cherry red so that it would have maximum appeal on the custom car show circuit. The car, in its third version, was shipped to Monogram so that engineers could measure its contours and dimensions in preparation for the production of the kit." Theres actually quite a few around, not pricey either. This would be the cherry red version:
This appears to be a later production version:
Gotta get one! I'll try the local ebay for a while first.
Facebook seems to have the only video available, it is excellent, showing many of the features mentioned in the story. Lots of photos around too. Thanks John
That's one I remember vividly. It was in the car magazines, they made model kits for it and I had some great pics of it. I always thought that if I got a 57 Thunderbird, I could get over it. GREAT choice John!
@sizedoesmatter Fascinating read John. I saw this car at a show in Kansas City in the early sixties.
@geoff-jowett Geoff. Not something I would want to build. Do not really like the car at all. But thanks for sharing your information on the kits.
John, your Something Different series is always something to look forward to. But for this one interesting article, but not a vehicle I like. Do not care for the styling let alone the glass top. I hope this car had air conditioning, as you would bake it there at 375 degrees. I guess maybe you could get a tan though.
John, not everyone likes everything; not a problem. As they say...John, your Something Different series is always something to look forward to. I had forgotten about this one. I do remember that first red Predicta Monogram kit that Geoff shows. (The plastic was actually grey, not red as I remember). Good model information Geoff. Thank you John for a unique, Something Different.
John, what an enjoyable read. One kit I've never built. I'm kinda lukewarm on the styling. To me it's ok, but nothing about it really grabs me. But it was fun to read about it 😊💯
Thank-you John as now I’d like to build this model which i’d never thought of doing before your posting !!
