Streamlining aside, I think there is such a glamour about seaplanes: Of flying off to remote locations and landing on lakes in the middle of nowhere. They suggest "the freedom of the open skies" in the way a car does, of the road.
When I was trying to escape from boarding school and went for an interview at art school, they reject all my pretty 'chocolate-box' pictures, (sound familiar?) But undaunted, I returned a week later with one A2 page of three-dimensional drawings based on '30s streamlined industrial design, including toasters, electric heaters, ashtrays and cigarette lighters, and was accepted on the spot 😀
Let's not forget Norman Bel Geddes and Raymond Leowy's pencil sharpener.
Always impressed with seaplanes with their ability to have alternative landing and takeoff positions.

I have always loved the Art Deco period of design. Its' influence was expressed in virtually everything from appliances to transportation. Great pictures posted here.
Fascinating images. Classic in every way!

The streamlined Zephyr diesel locomotive train came through here (Riverside, IL) on it's way a few miles later to the 1933-34 Chicago Century of Progress World's Fair. My Grandfather got some home 16mm movies of it as it passed on the Burlington-Quincy (now BNSF) triple-track mainline out of Chicago headed into the Fair. Art Deco certainly featured a streamlined look for many things....cars, planes, buildings, toasters, etc !
The current Collectible Automobile has a history of automotive aerodynamics article.
some very good reading covering the 1930’s to the 1980’s.

@paul-rouffa Perhaps he's gone incognito ?
Is that possible? I do not see that as an option on my account or settings. ????????
@perrone1 I would not have thought so, but our friend certainly seems to have disappeared.
It's as though the first wife and six kids unexpectedly appeared at the stoop. That or the revenuer man 🤣
