Here is a picture from circa 1953 or so showing a scenic spot and tourist attraction presumably somewhere in Europe-Great Britain. The stunned man walks from behind the bus and sees the enormous American Buick station wagon that seems nearly as big as the bus and the two Volkswagen automobiles combined !
The bus also has a unique rear fin/ventilator and external window shades.
In this picture, the giant Buick station wagon almost appears to have a three-tone color/wooden trim scheme, too. In any case, it is a beautiful car.
great pic Mike, one of those that really raises questions
Well, at least I can tell you that the bus is called a Harrington Dorsal and was originally designed in the 1930s.
Harrington was a coachbuilder and in search of a distinctive look for their buses they came up with the "dorsal fin" gimmick, which was also functional as an air extractor vent.
Oh, and there is (or was) a 1:43 model done by Hachette/Ixo
Hatchette/IXO - AEC Harrington Dorsal Fin Model Coach Review
I have no way of identifying the location, but the bus and the Buick seem to driving on the left (and the VWs seem to have pulled in to a layby or parking space on the left of the road, so I'd guess the photo was taken in the UK. The rocks and the trees on the cliffs overhanging the road suggest the Cheddar Gorge in Somerset but I could be quite wrong.

What a wonderful picture Mike followed up by wonderful information Graeme. The Buick is a Super from either 51 or 52 and the two VWs are split windows from the same era.
