I really like the fins on the Dodge automobiles of the later Fifties yet it is a strong design overall and some years ago I photo-shopped these Dodge cars without fins and I think the design still holds up.
The Dodge was an overall cool design and I think it could still remain so had the styling era ended earlier rather than the early 1960's.
First an advertising photograph of a beautiful standard Dodge coupe and then two photo-shopped '57-'58 Dodge 2-door coupes.
It seems to me that once you have experienced the stock Dodge fins anything less seems just not enough pizzaz.
Actually, this was meant to be a design done as if the finned Dodges of 1957-1959 had not been done, thus there wouldn't really be anything to compare it to or actually "miss".
Later, the stillborn Exner "S-Series" would kind of continue that development which tended to put a bit more emphasis on the automobiles front aspect
It looks like its missing something...its fins.

....these Foward Look designs need their fins; this "plucked chicken" look is obvious and not because we're all conditioned to see fins but rather because overall surfacing is now in "conflict." Everywhere, design cues suggest power, motion & thrust - without "wings," there's suddenly no lift! 😮 😫 😮
Hard not compare to the actual car as you suggest Mike.
It is difficult to do as one has to imagine the fin design era didn't actually take place and one only knew of this automobile styling.
I think Chrysler/Exner designs were very strong in that time and still can look good even without that styling feature/touch.
The back view reminds me of a Pontiac.
