Here are some photographs taken (not by me, as I wasn't born yet) at the 1950 Chicago Auto Show at the International Amphitheater near Chicago's giant stock yards.
The cars look great and all the girls are really pretty, especially all dressed up for the stage show that was held during the exhibition. To be honest, the guys look rather silly in their costumes, but oh well, it probably paid well !
All the automobiles are true sweethearts and I would take any of them in replica or real form. It is quite easy to see all part of the displays and all the cars before the crowds came in.
I LOVE it Mike - Awesome old pics - thanks!!
That must have been quite a payroll with that number of people.
Mike, great pictures, thanks.

Federal minimum wage '50 was $0.75 per hour. That would keep the payroll down a bit.
Great pics, Mike. Someone ahd a lot of patience and know-how to get pics that clear.

They are really cool images from back then ! The pre-opening images of the automobile display areas were taken by professional photographers working for Oscar Associates Chicago, which was a professional display imaging company in that city and were notated on the images. They used high-quality professional photographic equipment which explains the beautifully composed images and the fact they were taken the morning before the automobile show opened without any crowds of people !
+1 to all above, looks like all cars placed in 'millimeter perfect' positions. 1950 year I was born!
Yep, those new automobiles were placed carefully and perfectly to show them off to their best advantage !
Michael, love the pics...thanks for sharing.

Striking images, Mike. Elegant in classic black and white. Love the stage setting.
I love these vintage pics of yours Mike...thanks and keep 'em coming please!
Wow Mike some great shots. Even for something like a car show, it was a big Hollywood style production .
