Something that hasn't been brought up with todays "Which One?" is that the Dodge pictured is the "880" version, thus another reason I chose it over the Pontiac. But had it been the goofy looking and odd styling of the "Polara" (pictured here), I'd have caved and went with the Pontiac.

The Dodge 880 is just OK, the Pontiac is beautiful.
Gents, thanks for your responses.

@georgeschire George; I still remember clearly the first time I ever saw the new Dodge for '62. I was a 9 year old in the fall of '61 and me and my pal Randy were sprawled out on the kitchen floor reading the newspaper. I turned the page and there was a large pic/ad for the new Dodge. I was shocked at what I saw and we both couldn't believe what had been done to this car. I thought it was hideous then and for very many years afterward but I like it now for its place in automotive design history; along with the story about why Chryco downsized their cars in the early 60s.

And strangely, it (along with the equally awkward Plymouth for '62) has grown on me too, and for the same reason as yours. I'll point out, that your reaction to the styling was similar to mine with regards to the "boxy" '61 Lincoln. I couldn't believe what FoMoCo had done to the car. Today, it's only grown on me because of the oddity it presented to my eyes back then. Like the Dodge it still ugly to me, but I like it for its styling in car design.
