As interesting and cool as the Avanti is, I choose the Tbird first. Enjoy your R&R. ππ

I have always liked the styling of all the various sized Oldsmobiles for '64 so it gets first pick.Β The Avanti places second;Β is a cool car but I was never a fan of the nose and lack of a grille feature.Β The '64 Thunderbird was a major styling disappointment compared to the previous three years; it places third.
Yikes! How to choose?? I like the Olds, but for me, it pales in comparison to the other two. I've always been smitten with the Avanti. But, I'm also a huge fan of that vintage T-Bird. I'll go with the Avanti today. Its design is more timeless.Β

I have always been a fan of the Avanti. It is the only one of this tri that I would like to own. The Oldsmobile would be my second choice here.
Avanti for me. It's gorgeous. Tbird next.
Enjoy your time off!
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Starfire first, Thunderbird close second, and Avanti a distant third.Β I always thought the Avanti front end and the wheel openings looked a bit odd.
Thunderbird, Olds, Studebaker.Β Studebaker always looked wierd at least different, too different. Loved the Olds in '62, liked in '63, '64 alright, '65 no thank you.Β Thunderbird '55 - '57 loved, '58 - '60 beautiful, '61 - '63 did not care for, '64 - '66Β like.
How loud can I shout OLDSMOBILE?Β
The '62, '63, and '64 Oldsmobile's were off the charts gorgeous to my eyes!Β I had two '62's in my day and also a '63.Β I'd take a '64 in a heartbeat!Β
The other two cars in today's "Which One?", do absolutely nothing for me.Β No interest in either.Β
JOHN, enjoy your rest and relaxation.Β I'm sure it is much deserved.Β Know you'll be missed, so will look forward to your return.Β Β

Interesting comments you make about both the Avanti and T-Bird for '64.Β Yea, the "no grill" look of the Avanti is a huge disappointment to me, but I disagree with you regarding the T-Bird being a disappointment over the previous three years of the brand.Β Though I'm not a fan of the '64, I think it has a a lot more personality and style than the previous three years.Β I love how we can all have different takes on what we like and don't like about cars.Β It's what makes this Forum so much fun.Β Β

@georgeschire George;
Β
As much as I dislike the '64 Bird styling I did in fact own a black HT many years ago.Β That experience actually increased my dislike for the car; I didn't keep it for long.
Love all three! For me it's the T-bird, Avanti, Oldsmobile by the closest of margins.
Gents, thanks for the kind words.

@georgeschire Yes the Avanti of yesteryear is the Tesla of today.Β No Grill.

And to my eyes, no grill on a car looks awful.Β I've always seen grills as the face of a car and without a grill, the car is void of personality.

Having owned and restored a 1963 Avanti, I have to go with the Avanti even though it is a 1964 which is basically identical to the 63. If you have never driven an Avanti and like a car that handles well the Avanti is the car for you. It even has disc brakes on the front wheels. The T-Bird and Oldsmobile are personal luxury cars and don't really belong in the same category as the Avanti. Avanti, Thunderbird, Starfire.
