Shunsaku Tamiya didn’t just shape a company. He helped shape a passion for building, creating, and turning imagination into something real.

Mr. Tamiya was a true pioneer who welcomed generations into the world of scale modeling and radio control.
We're grateful for the joy he sparked, the legacy he leaves, and the millions of hobbyists he inspired to dream bigger and build better.

Rest in peace, Mr. Tamiya. The hobby is forever better because of you.  Mr. Tamiya died, at the age of 90, on July 18 of undisclosed causes.
Tam

When I was still building models, the Tamiya models set a new high in quality and detail. RIP Mr. Tamiya

Some of the BEST model car kits I've ever had the pleasure of building. Thank-you Sir.

All my tanks and armor models were 1/35 Tamiya - faultless accuracy. R.I.P. sir!

These are Tamiya models I built some 40 years ago and I still have.

The Fat Boy is the only one I have not built yet, and they sell nowadays for really big bucks.

Harley Davidson Electra Glide (1981)
Harley Davidson Police
Harley Davidson Super Glide .(1979)
Sandscorcher
Fat Boy

Even the most casual of collectors, novice modelers, and scant hobbyists would surely know the name "TAMIYA."    For me, it was always about the R/C cars and acrylic paints!   I don't think I've ever built or even owned a Tamiya plastic model.

My father and I built many of Tamiya's products over the years.   Spent many years at the hobby shop looking for newest Tamiya kit.
