I grew up in Riverside, CA during the ‘50s & ‘60s. A few tears back, I ran across two photos of a shopping center that we frequented regularly…there’s even a chance that we were there when these photos were taken.

The Hillside Mall outside Chicago looked a lot like the second photo. Then they decided to enclose it like other malls nearby. Then it closed.

I grew up in Riverside, too. But Riverside, Illinois ! And I remember Hillside Mall not too far from us in Chicago's western suburbs.

That sign looks like a sci-fi movie robot monster from "War of the Worlds".
