Thursday 9.30 a.m. Woke up this morning and switched on my PC hoping to find some more fun comments on the Trabant prize saga (which I think started life as the Cybertruck saga) and found the whole post has disappeared, and all my related postings have been wiped from my Profile Activity.
I know it's the middle of the night for most of you right now but I'm hoping we'll see some kind of explanation when the moderator wakes up - if indeed the moderator had anything to do with it. I know that if the original poster deletes their post all replies will also be deleted, but I can't imagine why they might do that several days later. (Maybe annoyed that the original topic of the post got "hijacked"?)
Did someone suddenly decide the references to a dead horse, or about JM sending his goons over here to "take care of business", were tasteless? Or was there some highly inappropriate or offensive post added after I went to bed? And couldn't that one post be deleted, rather than the whole lot? Anyway it all seemed pretty standard silliness up to that point.
I haven't received any private message warning me that I have been involved in an activity likely to cause public distress or offence.
Apart from being slightly pissed off that I spent about 3 hours composing a fun (?) image that has been wiped from public view, I'm just curious about why the plug got pulled on this one.
p.s. 10.30 a.m. I see in my Profile that my "Received dislikes" score just went up from 5 (where it has been for as long as I can remember) to 6. Maybe I offended somebody yesterday? Or that may have nothing to do with it. Curiouser and curiouser.

The last I saw, a post got political. When I tuned in last, John K. deleted that post and made a warning. This morning, as you note, the entire thread is gone. So....??
Oh well. I guess that's it then. I would have thought if an offensive post was deleted, the rest could stay as it was. How very unfortunate.

@graeme-ogg Usually it does; you're right. So what happened? Not a clue.
The original poster must have deleted his post. I don't remember who that was. I didn't delete anything. However, I did caution George to refrain from making political posts. If Tony or I didn't delete it, then the only option is the one who originated the thread. Unfortunately, once a post is deleted, it simply disappears. We have no way of determining what happened.

Well there we are. A small fit of petulance, presumably.
A minor set-back to my relentless programme of social self-promotion, but no matter. I plan to continue on my upwardly-mobile horse-drawn path come what may.
One piece of good news. I had an early-morning chat today with my old chum and fellow composer Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. As you may know he is a big fan of the Phantom (he owns two of them, both with custom-made opera windows) so in return for the promise of a test drive up The Mall to Buck House he happily agreed to knock out a personal driving song for me. Something along the lines of . . .
You get the idea. We’re still working out a few cleverly disguised obscenities that should get past the censors. All good fun.

WOW! Half a dozen Regal Ponies making 6 horsepower to motivate that fine half-Roller! YOU da Man Graeme!
@graeme-ogg Good luck with your Demi-Roller Graeme and say hi to Andy from all of us here. You may have to cash in some of your retirement plan funds to manage feed bills but there is always a cost to stepping up in society. JK and I found this when we first went on the car show circuit with the Trabant SS Demi-Coupe; the champagne and caviar environment required became a burden. We decided to charge for signed photographs which, as you can imagine, was a cash windfall....not the likes of your Nigerian blessing but still decent enough.
I understand that Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber only uses the Phantom when going to the opera. The man is a true genius with the music to prove his point. I'm envious of your friendship but seek solace in listening to his music every chance I get.
@bob-jackman Andy's stuff is decent enough but to be fair, he's no Tiny Tim; who didn't rely on back up musicians.
@jack-dodds I can see your point Jack. In retrospect, I don't believe Andy knew how to play the Ukulele.
@jack-dodds Thank you, sir. It was a desperate attempt to regain impetus after the disconcerting deletion trauma. We must forge ahead - and indeed the latest bold proposal is for 8 horsepower rather than the somewhat inadequate 6.
