For 1935, you couldn't get more modern or streamlined than the DeSoto Airflow from Chrysler Corporation or the Martin M-130 China Clipper 4-engine flying boat.

Great pic!  I guess this Airflow would be the first example of a car design that was ahead of its time and failed to appeal.
