.... I never noticed before.

I've always been aware of Canada's "twist"  on American cars, specifically 1957 Fords.   I've seen that distinctive V-shaped grill trim, etc...

But not until last night did I realize or ever see this '57 Canadian side trim, or if I have seen it before - I forgot about it.  🙄 🙄 🙄

It kind of foreshadows '58 American side trim.  😉 😎

I think it's rather odd (in a nice way) that here in Canada we had the usual Ford plus the Meteor; which was of course the same body with trim, grille and emblem changes.  In '57 both Ford and Meteor also had the cheaper 300 series as well.  My understanding was that, commencing in 1949,  the Meteor was done to placate the Mercury dealers who had no car to sell in the Ford price range as Mercury was higher priced.  Same went for the Mercury pickup trucks.

1957 Meteor Niagara 300 series  and Ford 300 series.

I've always been intrigued and liked the Canadian versions of American cars.  It would have been nice of one of the Mints would have produced some 1:24 scale diecast of some of them.  They certainly play a part in automotive history.

Here again is the Meteor series of cars using the full size Ford body from 1949 thru 1961.  In '62 they went with a mid size body shell.
