Pretty amazing. The painting was stolen once and there is talk that the Mona Lisa now hanging in the Louvre Museum is not the original as there are other images underneath it and her fingers have changed position.
I wondered if the real painting was actually restored this way as that would have been a huge decision and a huge loss had it failed. In truth, the painting is still in it's faded state. The digital restoration is actually a picture of the artwork.
