top shelf photo Chris 😶 🙄 .....the hungry predators, hands in pockets, feigning disinterest....all waiting for the opportune moment to pounce,as one, upon the timid prey
Was Stuart Wilson the father of Ralph Wilson who used to do all the commercials here late time on The Tonight Show where he'd stand on his head to make a deal or was that the guy with the cowboy hat. Ralph Wilson Ford of Long Beach California make you a deal $25 down and $25 a week or $25 a month and you could have a hundred thousand mile plus Ford in your garage. I believe Ralph Wilson Ford spent more money on making commercials than they ever did by selling their cars.
However, at my age, I could be very wrong.
@100ford2003 I have NO idea. I suspect the answer would require a bit of Google research. Who knows, right? It's a small world. Most people are unaware that Ford's current CEO, Jim Farley and the late Chris Farley were cousins.

Yes gentlemen, you're both correct.
The great Harley Earl was a Master-Guru when it came to making YOU feel bad about owing a 2-3 year old car! Forget that it was perfectly fine in every respect... except Mr. & Mrs. Jones just bought a 1958, and you're stuck with a 1955! Why, it's down-right shameful to be seen in a 3 YEAR OLD car! 😏 😏 😏
@100ford2003: Ralph Cookerly Wilson Jr. (October 17, 1918 – March 25, 2014) was an American businessman and sports executive. He was best known as the founder and owner of the Buffalo Bills, a team in the National Football League (NFL). He was one of the founding owners of the American Football League (AFL) He was a close neighbor of William Clay Ford, former owner of the Detroit Loind football team.

I believe you're thinking of Ralph Williams Ford.
Also, the cowboy hat-wearing car salesman who would "stand upon my head until my ears are turning red" was Cal Worthington, who originally owned Worthington Dodge off of Firestone Blvd in Downey. He opened up Worthington Ford in Long Beach on Belflower Blvd in the late sixties, which just closed in March of this year. I was there last year checking out the new Ford Maverick truck and the dealership was much smaller than it used to be, focusing mostly on trucks.

Being that I'm a BILLS fan, born in Buffalo ca. 1953, how come I didn't know that..?
🤔
Oh those were the days. 1956 and you could expect to see a chandelier in the showroom - wow!
Yes... Vintage photos of Dealerships from 1900-1960-ish reveal that they didn't really change much. Most had the look of a grand living room. Ornate wood trim, chandeliers, framed pictures, decorative rugs, etc., were all commonplace.
As you know, modern Dealerships are quite sterile. There's really there..... you'd be lucky to even find new-car brochures! 😫 😣

New car brochures?? What are they??? Ha! So true. The local John Deere dealer, where I bought my last two new tractors, has a big, beautiful showroom AND a ton of sales brochures of all kinds. It's so reminiscent of the good old car sales days.
