Both are nice. The Olds with its overhead valve motor was a wonderful car but if looks could kill, the Mercury wins hands down.

Olds for its second best looks but first rate engineering.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Mercury, I preferred the flat head back then and now it is classic so I still like the flat head, not saying which is better ,just my preference.  Love the Mercury.

You're a cheeky little devil John - you make it SO difficult. This is a real tough one. I have to go with the Merc's iconic looks that still hold up well to this day. The Olds is killer in that color combo and came close to a tie.

While I appreciate the mechanical advances of the Oldsmobile, for styling, the Mercury wins hands down.

Love both, but the Oldsmobile looks too much like a Chevrolet...so I'm going with the Mercury.
