1968, you are 25 years old and you just came into some money and decided to buy a new [American] car for your everyday uses, what would be your top three choices in the order of the most desired.

My picks:

68 Charger (19)
68 Charger (18)

Dodge Coronet R/T

68 Coronet RT (2)
68 Coronet RT (3)

Wow, so many Vettes. I was choosing cars by what I would be interested in buying for my everyday daily driver and a Vette just doesn't qualify for me. Tough to drive every day in Jan. Feb. where I lived and for some reason I carry more than one other person with me quite a bit in those days.

I ordered a 1972 Stingray in the fall of '71. It was my first of 3 Corvettes. It was my daily driver. It was also my 'baby'. I drove it in cold conditions that I was not happy with but had relatively no trouble. The other two were not primary transportation and another vehicle did the 'dirty work'.

I would consider a Dart,  Chevelle SS, and a Torino fast back.
