1974, you are 25 years old and you just came into some money and decided to buy a new car for your everyday uses, what would be your top three choices in the order of the most desired.
PS; [American] has been removed.
No car picks after '72, but I did buy a new F 250.
I started college that year and lost interest in new cars at the time. I guess a new Trans Am would interest me. I could go for a VW Scirocco or a Toyota Celica GT.
Oddly, I've not participated in this daily "The year is..." game yet. Guess I won't today either, as I honestly can't think of a single American car that caught my eye in 1974. In my opinion, the 70's were ugly years for The Big Three.

Really? How about this little Bon-Bon George? 1974 Olds Cutlass Supreme!!

No sadly. I just couldn't get past the GM roof-lines of these years and the long, long, long hoods of most 70's cars. After 1973, I never got giggly about any American car.
For a long time I drove a huge Chevrolet Caprice Estate station wagon with a 4-bbl 454 cid engine and dual exhausts. It was an excellent automobile that could carry large amounts of people or cargo very comfortably.

We used to call those big wagons "Prairie Schooners" but they got the job done if you need the space. Lots of cars to serve lots of needs.
