“The Board is proud to announce we will induct Jack Dodds into the Diecast Hall of Fame.

Jack Dodds is an invaluable member of our community, consistently uplifting others with encouragement, kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Jack fosters a sense of belonging, actively listen to others’ needs, and contributes positivity and collaboration in his interactions.  His generosity, thoughtfulness, and selflessness are so inspiring and really demonstrate the best things about our community here.

We have been wanting to nominate and induct some members into the Hall of Fame, and we can think of no better way to start than this after witnessing such amazing community spirit.”

Congrats, Jack!

Thank you very much for such a kind gesture, I appreciate it very much.  As we all know there are many Forum members who are worthy of such thanks and acknowledgement for their frequent comments, valuable knowledge and expertise, kindness and support.  At this point in my life I choose to focus on the positive and do not dwell on all the negativity abounding in our troubled world.  The best way to do this is to be thoughtful, kind and forgiving and try to do what is right; treat others the way you would like to be treated.  A dollop of humor is mandatory as well.  We all know this of course, it's not that hard to do, but it never hurts to mention it.  The old adage is true, the giver gets as much or more in return.

Thank you all for your daily camaraderie, you are a terrific bunch of people who share my favorite area of interest and add sunshine to my day.  God bless!

Jack

And while we are celebrating Jack’s elevation to “national treasure” status, it might be worth mentioning here that a little digging in the national education archives revealed that his truly remarkable sequence of year-on-year educational advancement, which he has described more than once,  actually lasted 15 years rather than  a mere 12. But being such  a deeply modest and unassuming character, I think he plays down the figures a little just to spare our blushes. And for that we are deeply grateful.

However, there is always someone who can go one better. I recently watched an old episode of “World’s Wildest Police Videos” where a drunk driver told a police officer “Hey man, I’m not an idiot. I have 20 educational qualifications. I took grade 10 twice.”

@graeme-ogg Graeme; I did make the decision not to include the 3 years I spent in kindergarten, so you are not incorrect.  By the way...just for clarification...and going against my deeply modest and unassuming character that you mentioned....I believe my "elevation" as you call it would be termed "international treasure" considering the scope of our membership.  Your residence in the GMT zone was likely the main determining factor, for which I thank you.

@jack-dodds, I'm so pleased you persevered through those arduous kindergarten years. Finger painting was my challenge and downfall. I had a predilection for the flavor of the pink and green paints. Perhaps you can relate? In any event, I am confident they were instrumental in building the character we now witness and are inspired by.

@jkuvakas OMG...so that's where your bile green and pepto pink obsession began; so it's not really your fault.  At least now that I understand I can deal with my anger from the never ending optical assaults caused by a certain '59 Chevy wagon.  I can't really relate to your paint predilection ; I stayed 2 extra years for the free chocolate milk and Graham wafers...or was it Graeme wafers?

This award couldn't have gone to a more deserving person. Congratulations Jack and to the board for their insight in making this pick.
