@brush Bruce; for me S&G's best song by far was Bridge Over Troubled Water. I never tire of hearing it. The Boxer is rather unique and a great song as well.
I was 12 in 69 and didn't go, but I probably have heard most, if not all of the songs played over the three days hundreds of times.
@carsman1958 I can recall all but four....with # 7,13,32 and 34 I draw a mental blank.
I wasn't at Woodstock but I sure remember many of the songs on the WLS-AM Silver Dollar Survey, as that 50,000 watt clear channel power house was my hometown radio station.
WLS-AM stood from World's Largest Store, as it was originally a country type station owned by Sears and their hometown competitor WCFL stood for Chicago Federation of Labor, as that union originally owned it.
I was one of the fortunate to go to Woodstock. It was an eye-opening experience for a young boy from the Adirondacks. In New York, the State Police wear 'mounties' hats and they average 6' in height, and only at Woodstock would a boy see a beautiful blonde, as naked as the day she was born, offering a toke to one of New York's finest. He was young and he did his best to keep his gaze over the top of her head, but it must have been a real chore for him to maintain his decorum. The one thing that stood out for me, besides the amazing music, was how everyone shared what they had with those around them who didn't have food or something to drink. It was an experience that changed my life and confirmed my desire to live by my own dictates and not my father's.
...Here is the Top 40 for June, just a little earlier. How many songs do you remember? Sure were not many played that year in upper New York.
I was from Northern NY and I knew/know all of those songs. What else do you think could draw a kid from the sticks down to Max Yasgur's farm? 😎
