A very interesting article and overview of this concept. I never knew several experimental-prototype vehicles had been produced.
I'll be polite here and just comment that I find it "ungainly".

Wow, who knew? 🤔 🤨 But I can certainly understand how a long flat floor would be an intriguing prospect for GM wagon designers. 🤔 🤓
I like everyone's comments. And once again I hear that phrase ringing in my head, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
But did you see the last on in the article? Oh mother of all that is unholy:
They call it an airport limo. Baloney - I want to rent one and take it to the grocery store - just for the looks I'll get!! (Then, try to get it around the narrow, winding, steep hills to home!!)
It looks to be a modified Pontiac wagon with a Toronado nose.🤔
A Toronado station wagon?.......why that just ain't natural!
For me the 1968-70 American Quality Coach AQC Jetway 707 airport limousine makes a lot of sense...no drive shaft and a flat floor as nature intended, the perfect application for the Toro.I like everyone's comments. And once again I hear that phrase ringing in my head, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

These many door cars sure would make interesting scale models - especially in larger scales, like 1/18 - so that everything could function as it should. OTOH: 1/43's are catching up fast in their scope of detail & functionality.
Are there any of these available in scale form - past or present? 🤔 🤔 🤔
I'm telling you fellows, these should be grocery getters. And if you just buy beer and snacks, they turn into party buses and/or tailgate party machines!
@perrone1 I like that '61 Chrysler; it could accommodate a person entertaining riders by playing his bass fiddle en route from the airport.
@jack-dodds ....wearing a stove-pipe hat too! Like Lincoln. 😉
I am sure railroad crossings could be great and exciting events in these vehicles.......
