What a beautiful and desirable Duesenburg (and Buick). Years ago, while photographing at the Consumer Electronic Show, I stayed at the Imperial Palace Hotel, which had a terrific Duesenburg collection among their automobile collection.

I feel very fortunate to have acquired a few of my Grail models. The Buick was at the top of my list Geoff, and when I finally snagged one I was stunned! It’s an otherworldly model, a “case study” in detail, proportion, and sheer beauty. If I could have only one model, that one would most probably be the one. The grail that has eluded me for years isn’t exotic at all, actually pretty mundane but I sure would love to find one. For some reason it just pushes all my buttons.

PS John, I love this post and I hope it goes viral. Good luck to all on your searches!

Maybe I'm lucky or just easy to please, but I don't recall having a strong desire for a specific model that I had difficulty obtaining. Maybe because I was active in the hobby when the desirable images were released.

@kevins Kevin you hit the nail on the head with that pickup model. Maybe some day.

Congrats John K.; it is a beautiful investment!   😀 😀

Personally, however, I can't state it any better than John B.:

This one for me right now. I'd really like to get, I just won't pay a crazy price. If I never get one that's ok too, lol. Not the end of the world.😁

@geno, that's what I had to do on the Queen of Diamonds. It took about four years, but I finally found one at a reasonable price.

I never really thought of this model as a grail, but I thought it may fit this thread. For  years, every time I’ve run across it

I’ve thought it was a gorgeous thing, one that I’d love to have, but never on a front burner. I saw one new in the box on eBay last night at a very, very nice buy it now price, so I grabbed it. It’ the third Bud truck in the last few weeks for me starting with zero.

@kevins

I bought both the GMC bud stake and the Chevy bud van and did a trade. Had to slightly alter the wheelbases but I'm happy with the results, especially the Pepsi truck.

@geno

Got the '68 Charger a long time back. I almost didn't get it because my first reaction was..."Another red car; another black interior." But I'm glad I have it.

@kevins Kevin, that's the only Budweiser model I don't have. It had never bothered me that I don't have it but if I found one at the right price I'd snap it up. Congratulations to you for your find.

@david-vandermeer Your craftsmanship is amazing David, I’m thrilled if I successfully glue a mirror back onto a model that I flicked off. Both models are awesome, but I agree, the Pepsi is especially sweet! (Come to think of it, that’s why I drink Coke.) Seriously though, I love cool graphics on a delivery truck and you nailed it!
