Tucker Convertible

I remember reading about this car about 20 years ago. There was quite a debate back then about authenticity. It would be nice to think that Preston Tucker had a part in its creation, but I am dubious. That doubt is likely why it is still for sale. I like the looks.

It certainly looks exceptionally cool ! At the least, there is some indication that Tucker was planning/developing something along these lines before the whole Tucker project and production was shut down

I recall this story a few years back, and I was at an Orphan Car Show in Ypsilanti years ago that featured several Tuckers, there were photos of the convertible and some discussion of its authenticity. I am not sure, interesting all the same. I was interested enough to buy the 1:43 scale models that Esval offered a few years ago, they issued it open and closed format.  

I love convertibles, and this Tucker looks great.... but it's 100% fake.   

I spoke to Tucker's grandson, while standing next to a Tucker (even have pictures ), and one other well-respected Tucker aficionado - neither one confirmed this is "authentic."   Certainly, Preston had all kinds of plans, including wagons.... but this particular convertible is something he never saw.   

Trust me, if ANYONE could substantiate this story.... we wouldn't even be discussing this car; it would've been instantly swept up by a wealthy collector long ago and "tucked"  away.    .....get it?    😉 😉 😉 

Lord knows I love Tuckers..... and told that story about how could've purchased, at auction, a junker w/a truck load of parts about 30 years ago.   The entire package sold for $28K to a museum.    Regret #47 in life.      😖 😖 ☹️

If you are a Tucker fanatic, have three point five million to spend, I doubt you care if #57 was originally scheduled to be a two door drop top or not. It is the only one of its kind on planet E, so go for it!

Cool story, shops do one off customs and get big money for them. Hell, why not this one too. Its guaranteed no body else is gonna have a car like yours no matter where you go. Super cool and unique. 😎💯

Like John M., I was interested enough to buy the model in 1/43 scale. Regardless of whether the car was a project of Tucker or not, the car does exist and I'm glad to have the model in my collection.

Authentic or not, it's still super cool.

@sizedoesmatter Agreed.... it's not authentic but it is cool.   I like it very much.   😎 😎    I'm not sure why I haven't yet made one in 1/18 ......  🤔 🤔 🤔
