1960 was an interesting styling change for Ford; the '59 and '61 were very different looking from it and had the more traditional tail lights. It would be interesting to know the actual reason for this one year change. I would like to see the '61 Ford done by Goldvarg; including the Galaxie Starliner and Country Squire. The Brooklin version was good in its day but this is one model that really would benefit from highlighting all its chrome trim.
Yes, a lot of Ford fans were apparently upset because the '60 Ford didn't have "proper" round rear lights. I think the stylists thought that in your mind's eye you were supposed to combine the semi-circular lamps with the inverted semi-circular indentations in the rear bumper. But nobody really believed them.
I've seen some pics where the bumper indentations actually had fake red lenses. I don't know whether that was an official option or just owners desperately trying to create the round tail-light effect. Certainly looks better to my eye.
I don't have the Brooklin '61 Ford (didn't know it even existed, to be honest) but I did have a go at upgrading the old Dinky Toys (plain Jane) '61 Fairlane to give it a bit more "Galaxie" sex appeal
Brooklin's 1960 convertible also got "The Treatment" to turn it into a Starliner HT with all the missing chrome (maybe almost too much, but there you are. My enthusiasm got the better of me.)

John, thanks for the video. It brought back a lot of memories. My father had a 1960 Ford sedan in white like the one shown in video. I learned to drive in that car. I also remember driving it to my senior prom.

@graeme-ogg, if I remember correctly, those fake lenses were aftermarket, but many dealers carried them. I guy around the corner had them installed on his red Galaxie convertible.
