After being lectured for averaging $2K a month on my one model vehicle habit. My wings have been clipped. I had a great run thats for sure. Just waiting on the last 10 models to arrive. Yes I need help lol as when I do things, I dont look at the cost. Which is why I have the accounting firm as my nanny.
They also suggested I " sell " some. Explained to them unemployment is not a good look right now. Well that changed their tune.
As the new ones arrive, I will post accordingly and I definitely want to continue on these forums. Will just have to live with what I own and enjoy....
The solution is to live in a small place so you simply can't buy any more. Ask me how I know!
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
@ed-glorius I am retired but we need to stay put for the inlaws lol
love it! Good on you Benjamin, a couple of old cliches fit in well here, "you cant take it with you", and "you only live once".After being lectured for averaging $2K a month on my one model vehicle habit. Working in the credit industry my whole life, I've seen all the wrongs people do with regard to how they spend money. I've seen credit card debt destroy people and their families. Sadly, some over and over again, as they don't learn from their mistakes.
For what my personal opinion is worth, no one needs more than one credit card. Find one that offers cash back rewards and here is the important suggestion, use it to pay your monthly fixed expenses and PAY IT OFF each month when the bill is due. Period.
Never pay any interest! If you follow this simple formula as I have, you'll be living a carefree life.

@georgeschire oh no I am sorry let me clarify lol. I use the credit card as the online places dont accept cash. Then my accountants every week ( Friday ) pay it off. So I get the points, and I have zero credit card debt. If the places I purchased from were local, I would just give them cash...

No need for the clarification. I understood your way and applaud you. What's ironic is that most places today don't want to take cash. It should be the other way around, pay cash and forget the credit.

Yes I have even tried with putting cash on cash cards. The problem being there's no direct way especially with tariffs to put that direct amount on
"What's ironic is that most places today don't want to take cash."
...and for those establishments that do offer cash discounts (a check is not cash ) getting such amounts requires a "call in advance." Most banks, credit unions, etc., don't really have much actual cash on hand and/or there's transaction limits.
At a few restaurants, I've even experienced an "up-charge" if you pay with plastic - even if it's a debit, not a credit, card. The lowest price is the cash price. Now you're penalized for NOT carrying around cash? 🙄 🙄 😫
I have had that occur after I have finished dining (about 3 times), the server or the cashier told me that the use of my credit card would incur a X% increase in the check.
I just use cash, and the next day, I report the issue to the credit card issuer, and after a stern letter to the restaurant, that practice grinds to a halt. It is a violation of the contract between the restaurant and the issuer to add that extra amount and the issuer gets on that right quick. Just my experience.
@lloyd-mecca Hmm.....that's interesting. In the past, I've reported businesses to dispute or remove a charge but never considered doing that in these cases when a surcharge was applied. Going forward, I'll definitely keep that in mind AND I'll spread the word - as this has happened to two others I know. Thanks Lloyd! 😉
Germany is a 'cash' culture where using CCs is not the norm, even with our mechanic.
@gdh HA! That's interesting too, thanks. I've known only 6 people who've been to Germany and they all loved it! "Neat, clean & friendly!"
Yes, it is very clean and neat, and can you ask your friends which part of Germany they visited, where folks were friendly?

Make that 7 Chris. Back in the late eighties, I took a company trip to Switzerland with side trips to Germany, Lichtenstein, Austria and the Orient Express to Lake Como, Italy.
In Germany we stayed in Lake Konstanz and toured several towns in the southern parts of the country. Yes, clean and beautiful, the apple orchards were a favorite and the people were friendly and helpful. Their English was far better than my German.
