I am happy to leave it to JK to produce the real "What if" offerings, but it's been a cold rainy day here so I've just been amusing myself playing around with an image of a 61 Pontiac convertible and thought you might (or might not) enjoy the results.
Although I can just about manage a bit of simple photo editing in Photoshop I've never had a lot of success trying to use their drawing tools, so the outlines of the roofs on the second pic (2 door coupe) and the fourth pic (2-door converted to a 4-door sedan) were done using a combination of the drawing "shapes" (straight lines, curves, arcs, etc.) in PowerPoint, then put into the photo editor for colouring in and patching up the joins. The roof on the third pic was lifted from an AMC Rebel "The Machine".
If you much prefer the authentic '61 Pontiac offerings, that's fair enough. As I say, it was just a bit of idle indoor amusement. it was either that or go out and catch my death of cold. ("Yeah, why doncha do that!", I hear you exclaim in a menacing tone).

Your changes are interesting Graeme. I wonder what the roof from a '62 Impala 2drht. would look like grafted onto it?
Well, since you ask, it would probably turn out something like this . . .
Personally I was quite pleased with the way the Rebel roof worked - maybe because I have a soft spot for "triangular" rear pillars.

@graeme-ogg Hmmm.....looks like a Ventura roof on a Bonneville body...a bit too short IMHO.

@graeme-ogg Helluva effort though Graeme....and I'm not just saying that. And please....call me Chuck!
Ah, I was inclining more towards Lucy. (You know, early australopithecene pre-hominid?) I mean, if that's OK with you. I think it properly acknowledges your intellectual stature but without imposing an excessive burden of expectation.

Dear Graeme,
- I don't think there's ever been an excessive. burden of expectation here...might I've been wrong ?

Hey now....I don't wanna be...no beast or burden; especially the pre-hominid variety.
I like the triangular roof the best. I'm guessing some AMC or MoPar owner is looking for his roof.

The 2 door with the fastback roof, would have been a nice offering.
Glad you approve.
Meanwhile, in a last desperate bid to please Mr Dodds I tried adding a '63 Riviera roof.
And if he doesn't like that, it's time to get very silly. A 2+2 specially designed for a young family with two mutant headless children in the back seat.

Some nice edits and interesting concepts. I, too, agree that the Rebel (fastback) top is the most interesting. Thanks for sharing, Graeme.
