Chrysler had brought this early 1960 design to market. It was meant to be a competitor to the T-Bird.

A valiant effort, I would have stuck with the Tbird.

Frank,

Funny that you mentioned Valiant as I see some Barracuda styling cues in the rear window design.

Keeping in mind that this was 1960, it seems like a decent if not elegant effort to me.

Obviously an exaggerated "artist's impression". Maybe if it had been reduced to something closer to Valiant size . . .?

Chrysler T Bird

No? Well, it was just a thought.

@graeme-ogg Graeme;  Personally I think that it may have been a contender if it was sized somewhere between JK's example and yours.

I would have taken the Chrysler.  It is sleek and beautiful.

Somewhat overstated. The rear quarter appears Valiant like. With some refinement it could qualify as a competitor for the T-bird.

I kind of like this one, John. With a couple of minor changes, this one is clearly more modern, for the time, than the T-Bird.

Back in 1960, I can't really see my 10 year old self getting excited about this design.

It is very nice, John ! I had understood it was a possible early-1960's DeSoto concept by Chrysler Corp stylist John Samsen. (sp ?)

@mikedetorrice, yes, Samsen was with Ford from 52-55. He helped design the Thunderbird.  Then he went to Chrysler in '55. He was a "co-designer" of the Barracuda.
