AMC styling to me was not the problem. In my mind they were still Ramblers and that just was not cool (although looking back the Javelin was).

I rather like this one although the 1971 Ambassador was no slouch in design either.

I would call that quite a handsome design. Kind of a stretched first-generation Javelin at the front end with hints of '66 Riviera around the rear quarters and roofline. Good genes. Maybe the Rambler underpinnings wouldn't do it justice, but that's another matter and doesn't detract from the looks.

I like the lines of this one but the grille "snout" is a bit unattractive. The headlight design/surrounds cause me to do an involuntary comparison to the '70 Chevelle nose which is gorgeous; so maybe I'm not being fair.
