@georgeschire - We're exact opposites. Although the first two Corvettes had black interiors, I HATE them and love tan. All three of my current vehicles have tan interiors. LOL! Different strokes....
It's so funny how people change. In the 60's and 70's I wouldn't have any color interior unless it was black. I considered it less than manly for some reason, I suppose. And, believe it or not, my first two Corvettes had black interiors - my first was a new 72 Stingray convertible, Ontario Orange with black interior and the 2nd was a 2003 Z06 in Millennium Yellow, also black interior. The third was a slightly used 94 C4 in rare Copper metallic with Beige interior. But like you, today, my cars have Stone and Cirrus seating. I now favor the Earth tones as old eyes dim.
I understand how this got off the original topic and into interior colors for cars. I'll give my opinion on both, I don't like black interiors they are too hot in summer, and no I can't afford a vehicle with the "cooled seating" option.
Now onto "Black Friday", my joy for the X-mas holiday seems to have left me while I was serving in the USAF. I'll never forget the Christmas Day I spent in the blistering Florida sun guarding a whole squadron of F-14 jets. There wasn't another soul on the flight line except our patrol truck which came by to deliver my cold turkey sandwich for lunch. My parents did send me a couple presents which arrived a week before Christmas, but it just didn't feel the same.
After I got married, I "do" Christmas for my wife, children and grand children. If it weren't for them it's just another day for me. Black Friday is just an excuse for corporate greed. We no longer go to stores and shop for Christmas presents and just give the kids money, much easier and less stressful. This Christmas my wife and I gave each other an early gift of all new kitchen appliances, I feel blessed and lucky that we could afford them all while living on a fixed income.
Up until I got old I preferred black interiors but the last 20 years I have preferred lighter colors, gray or tan.
I hate shopping and find it physically quite difficult being handicapped. On line, thanks Amazon & Wal Mart.
@old-caddys - Okay, now ya'll might find this post kind of weird! LOL!
I mentioned earlier that I do ALL of my Christmas shopping online. However, my wife and I always go to a couple of the upscale malls in So Cal so that we can appreciate and enjoy the Christmas spirit and joy. We don't shop or buy, just walk through the mall!
Why do we do this? One of the things I truly enjoy about this time of the year is the warm feelings that MOST people display during the Holidays! And the "Big Boss" and I go to the mall with the expressed interest of soaking in some of that spirit and good feelings! Yup! It's one of our Christmas time of the year traditions!
I don't like black interiors they are too hot in summer, and no I can't afford a vehicle with the "cooled seating" option.
Well, you may get them anyway.... heated/cooled seats are really no big deal anymore. It probably cost less to build all seats that way vs. producing some with and some without. Try finding a vehicle today with manual windows - they're all power because it's cost effective. "Massaging seats" is the hot option now! 😆 😆
@lloyd-mecca - Yes indeed! That's one of the malls we go to. The other is the Westfield Mall in Century City.
Yup! You're not alone in your comments. I confuse a lot of people! LOL!@marty-johnson ...you're a walking dichotomy! 😯 😮
I also do most of my shopping online. But, I may get the chance to bimp into Marty because I do enjoy going to a nice mall, getting a decent cup of coffee, and basking in the holiday spirit.
As far as the busiest shopping day of the year, after a long career in retail sales, many of those years spent in malls and shopping centers, I can tell you that the busiest day of the year is always Dec 26. Between the inevitable and highly anticipated after-Christmas sales and the nose-bleedingly high number of returns and exchanges, the sales traffic is mountainous! More than any other time. It doesn't appear in the day's receipts due to the high volume of refunds and exchanges.
