Spoke with Uber driver who is making living with Tesla Y 2021. He has 160K on the car, hasn't changed brakes yet. Only replaces tires. No other mechanical repairs. Charges the car at home every night (that is about 4 times cheaper than gas). The battery has very minimal degradation. Doesn't care about the depreciation because he will "run it to the ground". Ride is quiet, smooth and pleasant. The car has not exploded yet. One has to feel it to believe it.
@chav Interesting comments from the Tesla cabbie. I would have thought that with the great number of miles done daily a plug in recharge car would be problematic, time wise. I know from years of chatting with cabbies about their preference, the very much more preferred cars for them for operating costs (including initial purchase cost) and endurance are the hybrid Toyota Camry and Prius. I was told that the average monthly mileage racked up by them was 12000 kilometers (approx. 7200 miles). At this early point in the evolution of electric cars I think I would wait for the technology to improve and go with a new Camry hybrid AWD.....another new one to this range is the 2025 Corolla hybrid AWD, which should be a major sales success. Just one person's opinion.
@jack-dodds I actually owned a few electric cars, my favorite being a Toronado made by “Classic”. My older brother rewound the motors in our cars and they were too fast for the local track and would fly off at the first big curve. No more for me, thank you!

I've ALWAYS admired this particular aspect associated with MOST EVs. Very, very cool! 😎 😎
