I have "more than one"  Eagle (Universal Hobbies) 1941 Chevrolets, and a few Wellys too, but..... all of them have their own idiosyncrasy factor - if you know what I mean. 😏

Perhaps I can make ONE good one; combining the best parts from each. The Eagle coupe is the better replica; therefore, I'll enhance that one.
First & foremost, however, that sealed trunk will need to be cut out & hinged properly (not like the Welly "dog-legs" ). So, that's where I started.

My next step will involve fabrication of both the L&R vertical slide struts (SEE PIC ).

Stay tuned......

"This has taken quite some craftsmanship....."

Thank you, but Tony, I swear on my Mother's eyes.....

....the hinge cuts & assembly were kind of a rush job - I was finishing up the grinding & gluing while I was on the phone; I wasn't giving the process my FULL attention.....   as evidenced by that RIGHT pivot plate  being  angled downward, not parallel as it should be like the LEFT.

It doesn't affect the "opening operation"  but I will fix it!

Next time, I'll get off the phone!  😉 😀

@chris

For you, luckily, it looks like an easy fix. I still marvel at the ingenuity to come up with all of that!

@perrone1 Thank you!    Yes, I took care of this hours ago - honest!     Perhaps a bit difficult to see, but they're now lined up perfectly.  😉     Now I can sleep at night........  😉 😉 😉

You must have amazing small motor skills, Chris.  No way I could do any of that.

@whodeytink    Earlier today, I was grinding down all the edges to somewhat of a scale thickness BEFORE all the edging strips gets applied - one wrong move would've spelled disaster.   😉

- Perhaps I should be cutting diamonds instead?    🤔 🤨 😉

- Thanks for the compliments.  👍

 PART 3:

- The real work begins - shaping all the body trunk edges & channels after sanding down ALL the edges (trunk panel & body ) to a some-what scale thickness.

- The left side of the trunk opening needed to be shimmed up, once a bit of putty & paint are applied it will be invisible.    (...like the right side-shim on my '58 red Pontiac project - SEE PIC )

- Keen eyes will notice a tiny white, micro, side-shim on the left trunk pivot-point arm.

- Keen eyes will also notice a bit of a "wobbly gap"  between the bottom edge of the trunk and the body.    That had to be filled with another micro-thin  shim.    😉

PART 4 will deal with fabrication of the trunk panel underside.    Stay tuned.........    🤓 🧐 🤓

Chris the last underside pic shows what looks to be a genuine 1:1 part ready for restoration. Nice to see a couple of shots of the Pontiac.
