....I know, I know, but while all my "trunk tools" - from my '41 Chevy trunk project - were on the bench, why not, right? 🤔 🤔
Hopefully, PART 2 will be the final installment. EVERYTHING will be buttoned up, painted and done!
This trunk fits perfectly and flush but sits a bit off here because the hinges are still in contact with the rear wheel wells. Also, I'm using screws to lightly hold it to the hinges, so please excuse the "sloppy" installation. 🙄 🙄
I had to remove the back half of the trunk from the bumper assembly; therefore a bit of "reconstruction" work was needed. I'm not done yet, but you get the idea.... and yes, of course... all the unnecessary voids in the trunk will eventually be filled, and everything will get painted gray.
Stay tuned..... 😉 🙂
@perrone1 ...yeah, well... I'm already not quite happy with the "not-too-scale-look" of those hinges. They work just fine, but I have few other ideas.... 🤔 🤨 🤔
OTHO, this may end up on my shelf of unfinished projects - which is growing! 🙄 😯 😬 😳
@perrone1 I can appreciate that my friend but in addition to these "popular" unfinished projects:
I have a handful of others that have never been posted - in addition to a few I'd LOVE to start ASAP! For instance, my new ACME Nomad needs some attention, and my '69 Chevy wrecker's hood needs to be addressed.
It's a separate piece, but it's sealed shut. I MUST fix that! 😲 Plus, I have a few ideas for different liveries.
In short: I have a lot of fish to fry!
PART 2:
Because my initial plastic trunk hinges were grossly over-scaled, I had to do something - so I turned to metal. Although not perfect, I like these much better. PART 3 will detail the fabrication of the trunk underside stamping and preliminary work on the trunk interior; there's MUCH to do "inside."
Stay tuned.... 🤓 🧐 🤓 🧐
@chris Y'know, if you're in the neighborhood, I have this little Delage project...
@gdh Thanks, but no thanks.... I have enough of unfinished projects.... 😉 🙄 😉 However, plastic is easier to work with than diecast and here's a great video that explains everything. 👍 🤓
I realize that you'll probably NOT attempt any of this, for reasons previously discussed - BUT - it's really NOT that difficult. - just say'n 😉 😉
