Once I start on a kit I just cant wait to get it finished.
Thanks!
I learned a long, long time ago that NO ONE ON EARTH cares how fast you can build a model, but EVERYONE cares about how it looks. The old adage, "Haste makes waste," should be a big & bold mandatory printed statement on every model box.
Furthermore, "Patience is a virtue, seldom found in men and never found in women."
Good luck Geoff. 😏 😏
great advise, thanks Christopher. Absolutely nothing to do with our topic but your last comment somehow reminded me of a wonderful W.C, Fields line. "It was a woman who drove me to drink, I never wrote to thank her!"
Ahh yes ... The infamous W.C....a man of few words but when he spoke his words were wisely chosen.
Well, full discloser demands I tell you that the Bronco pictured is actually NOT Marty's, but it was something he was working on, in 1/18, before he took a "pause" (which issomething I can relate to 100%!! ). I'm not sure if the "pause" is permanent. ?? 🙄 🤔 🤨
He started fabrication of a 1/18 "Bronco Buster," hoping to create this:
Thanks. We have MANY other projects/mods/fabrications from years past. Perhaps we could post a "highlight reel" soon. 🙄 🤔
Would love to see that Chris! And if I may, this is probably my favourite. A Emhar 1:24 Bedford OLBD LWB O 5-ton Dropside Truck. I made up and painted the cabin, engine and chassis and a young friend and highly skilled modeler, Mat, scratch built the timber tray. The rough hued affect on the fenders was an accident but I kinda like the way it turned out. Gives it a rough hard working truck look.
@chris nah Chris steering wheel is fine, roads are the wrong way around! Also just noticed I hadn't reinstalled the rear view mirror, I left it off to transport the model. Its there now.
Here some pics of one of my hard working Frenchmen
It's a diecast in 1/24 by Maqmadon (MQM), formerly French, now a subsidiary of IXO.
These trucks were used for transportation of railway containers and very large wine barrels in the 1950s and 60s.
I left it stock technically, but gave it a good weathering.
that is superb Ralf. I've seen those for sale on ebay on rare occasions, although not your flat tray. Thanks for posting. I'd love to find one at a reasonable price.
@100ford2003 - Ha! Chris is slightly confused. You know how those absent-minded professors can be, right? LOL! 🤣
That Bronco photo is not my project. That's a photo of a 1:24 scale with a resin body of the Doug Nash funny car from 1966. Doug Nash's original car is powered by a tiny injected 289 CID Ford engine. It featured an ultra-light chassis constructed of aluminum. The entire vehicle only weighed around 1,100 lbs. The aluminum chassis was deemed unsafe and was outlawed in 1967, so the funny car was retired. BTW, it never was very competitive, and late in 1966, Doug Nash added a supercharger to the engine. That boosted the performance significantly, but with the outlaw status, it quickly became a moot point.
Mine is a 1:18 scale and is a modification from a diecast model. I was always fascinated by the 1:1 car and thought it would be a one-of-a-kind addition to my collection. I started the project about five years ago, and it has been unfinished since then. Chris has been teasing me ever since to finish the model. He's right, too! I gotta bite the bullet and get back to it. It's a shame not to finish what I started, especially since it is so unique. It's going to require a ton of custom fabrication. Lots of pieces will have to be made from scratch. I actually had the decals made already. All I have to do is finish the model! LOL!

HA! Three things:
1) Apparently you skipped my post (scroll up ) that noted the Bronco I pictured was NOT yours. I had no pics of YOUR 1/18 Bronco but the project was TOO COOL to omit.
2) I've always said you should've used a 1/18 PLASTIC (R/C ) body for your mods (easier & cheaper ) but had NO IDEA you had PROGRESSED this far. HOLY SMOLY! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
3) I've taken "pauses" too, but always with good reason (re-work, wrong measurements, re-build, etc.. ) I see nothing like that in YOUR pics. There's certainly more work ahead, but your 63.5% there! And you have the decals too? Awesome!
- I'd say 2024 NEW YEARS RESOLUTION #1 should include a bit of Bronco Bust'n! YEEEEEE-HAAAAAA!
