The Log Train
Hank Williams

“The Log Train" was written by American country music singer-songwriter Hank Williams in 1952 as a tribute to his father Lon's days as an engineer .  Hank recorded it at KWKH studio in Shreveport on December 3, 1952, just weeks before his death.

Alabama logging railroads once featured dozens of operations from small, one mile (or less) lines to those that featured nearly two dozen miles of track.  Most of these railroads began operating around the turn of the century and lasted just a few years. However, some like the Alabama Central Railroad, operated for nearly six decades, accumulating quite a network of track and offering minor passenger service.

HiramKing "HankWilliams (September 17, 1923 – January 1, 1953) was an American singer-songwriter. He is regarded as one of the most significant and influential American singers and songwriters of the 20th century. Williams recorded 55 singles that reached the top 10 of the Billboard Country & Western Best Sellers chart, five of which were released posthumously, and 12 of which reached No.1.

@frank I was remembering how much fun it was discovering and adding to your list when this song popped into my head; incredibly it's not on your list yet!

Then I looked at my music library and realized there are about 75 songs more to add! I will have to figure out how to do that in small doses. Smile

@paul-rouffa it was there already, I’d been adding as I go.  Anymore suggestion just give me a list, I’ll find the video.  There’s 329 songs on there now.   🥴🚂🎶
