Growing up during the Korean War... uuuh, "Police Action", I was regaled by the tales of dog fights between and the Mig-15. It was also thrilling to note that many of the Migs shot down were piloted by Russians. I remember constantly doodling sketches of the jet all over my school note pads. Here's a nice little vignette of a 1/32 Saber Jet in maintenance mode that someone built for the NNL East show.
With the F-80 the first operational jet, in 1949, the Skyblazers were formed and debuted in 1949 at the Royal Air Force Base in West Germany under the US Air Force Europe. By 1955 they were flying this F-86F but were superseded the following year by the F-100 Super Saber. The Skyblazer aerobatic team morphed into the "Thunderbirds" in 1962.
The jet is super cool but so is the scale crew!
