Here is a photograph of the GMC Truck exhibit at the 1958 Chicago Automobile Show at the International Amphitheater. GMC Trucks was a major client of my Dad's for many years and the design company he was with, "3 Dimensions", designed and set up this exhibit at the '58 show. The beautiful, wide-whitewall tire V-8 powered GMC pickup certainly deserved to somehow survive and still be around somewhere.

The Chicago International Amphitheater near the stockyards and everything is long gone and almost nothing else from that show and time exists anymore at all.

Almost nothing .......

....looks like a few pieces of "place & fit"  floor tile survived.  Judging from the signage, it appears your father may have been involved with GMC's 1959 presentation as well.

You are welcome, Geoff ! It would magical to go back in time and be at those shows with our eyes and knowledge of today.

Chris, that certainly looks like something he and the exhibit company set up for the 1959 show for his GMC Truck client. Perhaps that could be at Detroit's Cobo Hall convention center. Among other places than Chicago, he and the exhibit company, were also involved with the New York, Nashville, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, etc, truck and automobile shows.

It's terrific to be able to resurrect these photo treasures and recall the 'good old days' - and they surely were!

Wonderful memories. Being 15 in 1955 brings back a kinder gentler time to me and a time of such excitement for a car crazy kid like myself.

Nice Bob, my first year at Primary School, Sandringham State. I do remember not being too happy to let go of mum on my first day!
