Here is a great old color print advertisement for the stylish 1946 Packard. There was pent-up demand from World War II for beautiful brand-new cars and this big Packard fits the bill perfectly !

Oh my! Just look at all those people who have gathered around this Clipper as it emerges from its Packard origins. Everyone is smiling, even the policeman controlling the crowd. Man; I better get one of these pronto!

That Packard factory just shortly before had been producing thousands of the Rolls-Royce designed Merlin V-1650 aircraft engines, as well as marine engines for PT boats.

Our opponents in that war were stunned at the vast American production capabilities. We could produce hundreds of thousands of automobiles in peacetime .....  and hundreds of thousands of other material for the Allied war effort.

Then it was back to making millions of automobiles, etc, for the U.S. consumer !

Artistic license, notice the shrunken occupants of the Clipper.
