Many years ago, I came across on-line a company (perhaps in Great Britain) that sold buildings, walls, etc that would work for railroad layouts (or diecast car displays) either for photography purposes or for displays. They could be printed out at home on your color printer and card stock paper. They could be printed on nearly any type of paper, and re-inforced with heavier material fastened to the back.

I came across an old one and snapped these quick phone-cameta snaps.

There are many self-adhesive backgrounds on ebay.de, which can be attached to a firm board or foamcore and used for dioramas.  I bought one, last week and I am hoping my 'wood floor' arrives soon.
