When my Grandfather was a Chief Engineer at Diamond-T Trucks plant in Chicago circa late 1920's through late 1950's, they were part of a consortium that built military vehicles for the World War II effort. Some of their own designs were used as well as those from GMC, Ford, Dodge, etc.
This is one of the Data Plates that was affixed to the truck with it's specifications. Family legend said that some of these plates contained an error somewhere, and Grandpa was so appalled that he collected up all the un-used plates and used the pure high-grade aluminum for various projects around the family house in Riverside, IL !
The 1/144 scale truck is a similar model made in Hong Kong and is a knock-off of the well known ROCO military vehicle brand made in Austria.
Great stuff! I played with a ton of plastic military trucks, just like that one, as a kid. That was in the late forties, early fifties. As a teen, I built a lot of military armor models; mostly Tamiya 1/35th scale (I think) and still have a few of them collecting dust.
