Back in those years, Plymouth was a client of my Dad's and the design/display company he was with. This is the 1961 display at Cobo Hall for Plymouth.
We had a white 1960 Valiant, much like the '61 sedan here. There are some beautiful 1961 full-size Plymouths, perhaps a convertible Fury here, too.

Sorry. Really though, that shows a tremendous amount of work. LOVE your old files and Dad's work. He'd be so proud of you to know that you share these with car lovers.

When I was fifteen, an older girl used to let me drive this car around the diner's parking lot, which was designed to accommodate semis. If I remember correctly it had a three-speed on the column.

I forgot to say Cobo Hall was/is Detroit's giant exhibit building. Based on the overhead lights, I think this display was there, although generally other automobile shows would set-up and use the same display, subject to floor space available.

I think our white-colored family 1960 Valiant probably had the Slant-Six engine under the hood.

I’ve always liked those first year Valiants & Lancers. They were so different from every other American car so I was fascinated by them.

They were ! Chrysler decided to go a somewhat more "traditional" route with their compact Plymouths and Dodges, while GMC decided on a more revolutionary approach with their Corvair.
I do remember as a a small kid Dad became enraged one cold winter morning when the Valiant wouldn't start and he gave it a mighty hit or kick in the side,..... and probably took Grandma's reliable 1955 Pontiac, instead, lol !

Mom & Dad had both a 62 Dodge and a 62 Plymouth both in red, but slightly different shades. My Grandfather also had a 62 Dodge.
