OK, I got your attention. Nothing earth shattering here, just sharing something that happened to me. I built a 1/24 Schwinn Stingray a while back, and I wanted to upgrade it to the 3 speed stick shift that was offered back in the day on the 1/1 bike. I put it on the back burner and didn’t think much about it. The other day I was looking through my spare parts for a project, and a 1940 Ford door panel literally jumped out. I took a look, and the window crank reminded me of something. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
spot on, works well! Beautiful scratch built work there Kevin
What a great idea, that crank works great.
I can you, growing up with these bikes, years after they hit the market... After one good crash, we quickly understood why this shifter idea didn't last despite looking so cool. We could "feel" the reason! 😏 😏 🙄
Thanks for the compliment Geoff, but I can’t be credited with scratch building the bike. It was actually a little model kit in itself that was included with a 1/24 car model, as were the others pictured. I can’t remember which kits included them, but I bought them from an EBay’r that sells model kit piece’s, part’s. The kits are TINY, especially for an old fart like me.

Ohhhhh yeah..... Been there, done that 😕
