I just finished responding to a post about an Olds I just bought (Creamsicle), was surfing aimlessly when I came across a car I’ve had an eye out for ever since I saw an ancient post here from John Merritt bragging it up. This is the first time I’ve seen one for anything near my comfort zone. The seller stated that it has some paint rash, I don’t have a black DM that doesn’t have paint rash so it should fit right in!
Kevin, this is a great model and it checks all of the boxes including being a woody wagon and also being an Oldsmobile. One can never have enough Oldsmobiles...just ask George Schire and I agree.
more home runs Kevin!
I have used E2000 clear for a job like this. With a toothpick just dab about four spots on the backside of the windshield edge and press into place. Very easy even I can do it.
@bob-jackman SoIt won’t craze the windshield Bob?! I see a lot of these for sale with fogged up plastic. I’m assuming there’s a common problem with these applied to convertible hardtops.
@kevins Superglue will fog up a windshield but I have never had that happen with E2000. To put your mind at ease I would suggest that you try it on a model that is not that important to you. I'm not an expert only a guy who has used this product with no problems where as years ago i used superglue on a couple of windshields and it fogged them over where I could never make them clear again.
"Can someone out there in Diecast land tell me what adhesive to use to adhere the windshield without attacking the clear."
- Canopy glue will ALWAYS dry crystal clear, will never damage clear plastic, holds very well..... and it's inexpensive! 😀 😀
- Here's how nice DM's 1/24 1955 Olds truly is.
These were the very first pics of "Elgin Park" I ever saw. Elgin Park was the fictious scale-town the late Michael Paul Smith created. He fabricated everything from scratch in precise 1/24 scale then photographed his set-ups using 1:1 "backdrops."
Michael was a master builder and photographer.
Thanks for that Chris, I remember seeing a YouTube video about Elgin Park, truly amazing stuff, and the Olds looks right at home!
