1982 Lotus 91 Nigel Mansell by GP Replicas

This is a ground effects car that made enough down force that in many races a front wing was not required.

Here is a 1982 Lotus 91 in John Player Special colors but using Team Lotus livery instead, this Team Lotus livery was run at the 1982 British Grand Prix. This one is by Tecnomodel.

A little more information on the Lotus 91 using the gold leaf TL (Team Lotus) livery, this was used in races where tobacco sponsorship was restricted, the gold leaf's represent the manufacture championships that Team Lotus had won. Lotus had won a total of 7 manufacture championships my best guess on how they depict them are the six small gold leaf's on the side and on the rear wing and the large gold leaf being the seventh championship. I have seen some races where they had seven small gold leaf's down the side of the car as well. So another guess would be the six gold leaf's down the side and on the rear wing represent the six drivers championships Team Lotus had won.

The John Player Special paint scheme was used as well.

Here is a photo of the Lotus 87B, this car was used during the 1981 season but was also used for the first race of the 1982 season before they switched over to the Lotus 91.

Love the JPS livery.  Its interesting how naked the 91 looks without a front wing.
