[Closed] AUTOart's Porsche 928

AUTOart's Porsche 928A front engines, watercooled, fuel injected V8 powered Porsche 2+2 to replace the 911 with its notoriously skittish handling or an evolutionary deadend? Well, the 911 obviously lived on and the 928s are now found in archaeological sites containing Neanderthal bones. Between the color choice, lack of spoiler and air dams and having a dedicated box in the chassis for the battery and no gearbox shocks, I hereby declare this a 1979 model. With its Lind Green Metallic paint and popup headlamps, it reminds me of Froggy, my favorite amphibian. So I popped the headlamps back in and I started to appreciate the beautiful paint and the overall lines of this car. OK, the overall lines are definitely dated and harkens back to designs untainted by CAD and wind tunnel dictates. It just looked cool and if you wanted to race this car, you merely slapped on all the aerodynamic aids that kept the car from going airborne at track speeds. OK, back to the model. AS I said, the paint is phenomenal. Like a world class model, it loves the camera. There wasn't a lighting scheme it couldn't handle. The lighting groups are so real, they almost look illuminated. The glazing is optically clear and distortion free. Fit and finish is first rate. The panels all operate on proper hinges with Aa's signature microscopic shutlines. The interior which sports that ridiculous op art checkered flag motif is free of visible mold seams and sprue points. The front seats are not articulated consistant with AUTOart's predjudice against working parts, so the camera had no access to the diminutive rear seats. It's classified as a 2+2, but I like Nissan's description of their "Z"s... "an occasional four seater". The engine compartment is competantly replicated in textured and painted plastic. A proper look without a CMC pricetag..... which I guess describes the entire model.OK, here's MY little Froggy.photo no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer availablephoto no longer available

Richard, it's a cut and paste job, but it describes the evolution of the 928.
